Leadership
-
Created
CTD Ltd to offer a high quality engineering design and development service.
-
Acted as Technical
Director for three years to a multi-national company to develop industrial plant.
-
Project led a medical device development for
one of TTP’s largest clients.
Through regular and open communication with the client, careful planning
and budgeting, focused innovation and motivation of my team the device was later
manufactured and licensed for over £100M.
-
Led a project from concept through design,
prototypes, marketing trials and on to full production for a major client over
two years. This resulted in the
client having a real product with several patents, from a starting point of only
a conceptual idea.
-
Led teams of technicians at three Royal Naval
dockyards, modifying submarine nuclear primary circuits.

Technical and Operational
-
Developed a
large scale industrial process for a multi-national client to copper plate
PCBs at high speed. From concept to manufacture, responsible for
entire project including recruiting and managing permanent staff.
-
Designed and
developed many new products and industrial processes for external clients
while at TTP and now CTD.
-
Designed
and developed internally funded projects, e.g. consumables for an exploratory chemistry
robot.
The project later sold as a limited company to Mettler Toledo for £10M.
Internal production of consumables saved £1000’s and the innovative
use of plastics allowed the handling of very corrosive acid cocktails.
-
Designed mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and
hydraulic equipment for RRA. The
special requirements of nuclear plants mean that equipment must never contain
chlorides, must be quick and reliable in operation to minimise exposure to
radiation and often must be assembled through hand-holes in vessels using remote
visual techniques.
-
Developed areas of the transmission for the new
RR Trent engine and conducted engine tests during various stages of
commissioning on company test beds.
|
|
Commercial
-
Created a
business plan and sought funding for a major client to redirect their
business and better exploit their technologies.
-
Marketed TTP and sold project phases and
entirely new projects to prospective clients. This resulted in over £2M of revenue from medical and consumer sectors, creating one of the
division’s largest clients. Achieved
a cross functional sale by including TTP’s Strategy division. My artwork later
became the division standard for sales meetings.
-
Sold and operated a project to select a factory
in China for the production of my own design, on behalf of a client.
The result was a suitable factory to carry out casting, moulding,
electronics and assembly work. Production
is on-going.
